Domain name - This is the name
you type in to go to a website. For example,
www.microsoft.com. First you decide what you want your
domain name to be. We then look to make sure it is
available. If so we can purchase the name for one or two
years. Beware there are a lot of places that say free domain
names or domain names for $9.00, but they usually come with
a contract for hosting or they add on charges for other
services.
Hosting - Once you have your
domain name you need a place to keep your website. Think of
buying a mobile home and needing a place to park it.
Secure Server - This is a place
on the internet that is secure for shopping. It is a safe
place to use credit cards.
Shopping Cart - This is just like
a shopping cart in the grocery store. It stores the items
people are purchasing until they check out.
Key Words - These are words that
are used by the search engines to find you and rank your
website.
Submission services - Just
because you have created a website and put it on the
internet does not mean that it will be found. Search engines
crawl the web looking for sites all the time but there are
so many that it could take a while for them to find your
site. A submission service will submit or tell the search
engine to look at your site frequently so that you can be
found.
Do I need to have any technical
experience to have a website?
We understand that not everyone has the experience to be
a web master that's why Computer Technology Web Services,
Inc. can handle all the technical aspects of building,
deploying, and marketing your site, leaving your free to do
what you do best - your business.
Do you use templates for creating
websites?
No. Each website is designed from the ground up and not
a template that has been "customized". Only in the
case that a customer already has a template or specifically
requests one will a template be used for designing a
website.
Do I own the site after it is
created?
Any site that you purchase from Computer Technology Web
Services is completely yours to do with as you wish. We do
reserve the right to display the work in our portfolio.
What are my options for updating the
website once it is created?
We can update or maintain any site at our standard rate
(If there is an error or problem that we are responsible
for, it will be fixed promptly and free of charge). If you
wish to maintain the website yourself (as many of our
clients choose to do) you are free to do so. All hosting
accounts come with private account logins so you can quickly
and easily access the files.
